Biography
Francis de Southowram, died 1572, son of James Exley (d. prior 1601). Married Elizabeth, widow of John Speight (d. 1578). He appears on the NZ pedigree sheets as part of the branch descended from Richard of Burton, separate from the Bankhouse/Wortley line.
His son James Exley (1540-1592) married Sebell Oates (d. 1599). This James may correspond to the “Francis m. Sybil Oates” in Victor’s pedigree, with a name confusion between Francis and James, or between father and son.
