Description
Village in the Airedale area of West Yorkshire, between Leeds and Bradford. The Exley family had a presence here from at least the early 17th century.
Historical Context
The Harpers of Calverley and Guiseley were connected to the Exleys through Sibyl Harper’s marriage to John Exley of Rawdon (1651-1721). Sibyl’s father Francis Harper and his wife Sibyl were of Calverley and Guiseley.
