Biography
Ellen, living 1284, daughter of Henry of Ecclesley Hall and Joan (daughter of Simon de Monte Alto / Maud). Together with her brother Robert de Ecclesley (liv. 1329), she left their property to “Richard s. of Roger, s. of Richard, s. of William de Ecclesley of Dewsbury.” This bequest is genealogically significant because it connects the Ecclesley Hall line (Swaina > Hugh > Henry > Ellen/Robert) to the William de Dewsbury (c.1245) family, establishing that both lines were part of the same kin group. The property passed to a descendant of William de Dewsbury’s second son Richard, via Richard > Roger > Richard.
