Biography
Elizabeth M. Rowley, nee Exley. Lived in Khandallah, Wellington for 30 years before moving to Auckland (348 Lake Road, Takapuna) around 1985. Her father was Joseph William Exley, aged 85 in 1987 (b. c.1902), of Sheffield. His parents were May and Joseph William Exley, also of Sheffield, Page Hall area.
She wrote to “Mr. Exley” (likely Lionel Edward or another Wellington Exley) in July 1987 after a chance encounter. Her sister Dorothy Payne of Sheffield was also researching the family tree. She had a brother Joseph William living in Tawa, about 52 in 1987 (b. c.1935).
Open Questions
- The Sheffield/Page Hall branch connection to the main Exley tree is not established. This could be a separate Exley family or a distant branch.
